The problem

Building an app is easy now. Living with twenty of them is not.

Every app you vibe-code is its own island: its own repo, its own deploy, its own keys, its own copy of your data. Existing apps and services are the same story, and every one of them wants the same things typed in again: who you are, what you are working on, your accounts, one more set of credentials. Your chats, automations, and files end up scattered across all of it, so app number twenty costs you as much as app number one.

Lucidos is an open-source AI OS that researches and builds the apps and automations you need, and gives them a home. One workspace, on desktop and mobile, where everything you make keeps running and keeps working together.

It runs on your own machine. Describe what you need and it builds the app or the automation and keeps it running, no repo, no deploy, no separate service. Tell it something once and everything you build already knows it, so what you make compounds instead of scattering.

60-second demo

The user is fictional. The product is not. Maya is a persona Lucidos staged and played: a designer training for a half marathon. Lucidos invented her, seeded her history, ran the demo on itself, and cut the video. Every screen you see is the live app, captured while Lucidos drove it.

The goal

Lucidos builds it on the spot and keeps it running, right inside your workspace. No installs, no deploys, nothing to maintain, and everything you build is instantly on your phone too, in the same workspace.

Notes here, reminders there, a spreadsheet for that, five tabs open to glue it together. Every tool makes you do the work of fitting your life into its shape, and forgets everything the moment you close it. The result is a hundred tiny chores no app was built for, and the mental load of remembering all of them yourself.

Lucidos is the assistant that builds the tools instead of making you find them.

Lucidos turns every external service you connect into a reusable capability. Credentials stay inside the engine, never in the apps and scripts that use them, and each integration is exposed through a controlled proxy.

That same connection then works for an AI model working on demand, a script running from a trigger, an automation, a generated app, or a direct proxy API call.

Getting started

Up and running in a few minutes.

  1. Install Lucidos

    Download for Mac

    The Mac app is Apple Silicon. On an Intel Mac or on Linux, use the one-line installer:

  2. Open your workspace

    Launch the app and connect your LLM. Bring your own API access, external (Claude, OpenAI, and more) or a local endpoint. Lucidos sets up a private, on-device workspace that's yours alone.

  3. Tell it what you need

    Start a conversation. Ask it to track something, build a tool, or automate a routine, and watch it happen.

Lucidos is open source, MIT licensed, and built in the open: a Rust engine, a TypeScript frontend, and a Postgres event store. Clone it and you get more than a build you can read. You get the loop Lucidos is developed with.

Point a workspace at the Lucidos checkout and ask for a change. Lucidos hands the job to a coding agent (Claude Code or Codex), running it in an isolated git worktree so the install you are using is never touched, then gives you the diff to read. Hit Apply and it merges, rebuilds, and restarts itself running your change. Nothing lands without you approving it. The agent writes the code, Lucidos runs the loop around it: worktrees, review, apply, rebuild, restart. That is how Lucidos is built every day, including from a phone.

Needs Rust, Node, and Docker (Postgres runs in a container for dev). The quickstart covers the source path in full, and CONTRIBUTING.md covers the PR flow. Contributions are welcome, and Lucidos is pre-1.0, so there is plenty to do.
